Event Details

Immerse yourself in hand-building, clay, glaze and the spectacular processes of the outdoor Raku kiln firings. Take home work transformed by flame, glaze and smoke. #craftcubed2019 #craftvictoria

Award-winning La PasseggARTa is ‘bringing art and people to the streets’ of Altona for Craft Victoria’s annual Craft Cubed Festival celebrating the handmade.

In collaboration with La PasseggARTa, Louis Joel Arts and Community Centre is proudly hosting an exciting new hands-on artist-led ceramics workshop. Over three sessions participants will learn about the traditional and contemporary practices associated with Raku pottery. You’ll get to glaze your bisque fired works in preparation for the spectacular outdoor weekend raku firings and have the opportunity to get up close and involved.

Witness the combination of rapid gas firing, temperature, flame, glaze and smoke, and how it transforms your work to produce glorious lustres, crackle glazes and smoky black clay bodies. Work will be ready to take home at the end of the day. Suitable for all skill levels.

Three sessions: Tuesday 30 July, 7pm-9pm; Tuesday 6 August 7pm-9pm & Saturday 17 August 10am-2pm
